Summer Martial Arts Camp in Celebration, FL
By Gracie Barra Celebration · February 2026
Summer break is coming, and parents across Celebration, Kissimmee, Four Corners, Champions Gate, and Horizon West are already thinking about how to keep their kids active, engaged, and off screens for 10 weeks. Gracie Barra Celebration's Summer Martial Arts Camp offers a structured, fun, and physically challenging alternative to the typical summer camp experience — one that builds real skills your child carries with them long after school starts again.
More Than a Babysitting Service
Most summer camps keep kids occupied. Ours develops them. Every day at Gracie Barra Celebration's summer camp is designed with intention. Children do not just show up and pass time — they train, learn, grow, and build friendships with other kids who are also pushing themselves to improve. The structure of martial arts gives every day clear purpose, and kids respond to that purpose with focus and enthusiasm.
Professor Rodrigo Frezza and our coaching team — including Coach Ryan and Coach Marcello — have built a summer program that balances serious skill development with the kind of fun that keeps kids asking to come back every day. The result is a camp experience that parents trust and kids genuinely enjoy.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
Our summer camp runs a structured daily schedule that keeps kids moving, learning, and engaged from drop-off to pick-up:
- Morning warm-up and games. Each day begins with dynamic movement games designed to build coordination, agility, and teamwork. These are not random activities — they are specifically chosen to develop athletic attributes that support martial arts training.
- BJJ technique session. The core of every day is a focused Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training session. Campers learn fundamental positions, escapes, sweeps, and age-appropriate submissions through the Gracie Barra curriculum. Techniques are taught progressively throughout the week so kids build on what they learned the previous day.
- Striking and movement skills. Campers get exposure to basic Muay Thai skills including proper punching and kicking form on pads and bags. These sessions emphasize coordination and body mechanics rather than contact with partners.
- Team challenges and competitions. Afternoon sessions include team-based obstacle courses, relay races, grappling tournaments, and skill challenges. These activities build camaraderie, sportsmanship, and healthy competitive spirit.
- Cool-down and character talk. Each day ends with stretching and a brief discussion about a character trait — respect, perseverance, honesty, discipline, or courage. These conversations give kids a framework for applying what they learn on the mat to the rest of their lives.
Ages and Experience Levels Welcome
Our summer camp accepts children ages 3 and up, with age-appropriate groupings to ensure every child trains with peers at a similar developmental stage. We welcome kids at every experience level:
- Complete beginners who have never trained martial arts before. Summer camp is one of the best entry points into BJJ because the daily training accelerates skill development.
- Current GB Celebration students who want to train more during the summer and deepen their skills while school is out.
- Kids from other sports who want to try something different during the off-season. Many of our summer campers are soccer, baseball, or basketball players looking for cross-training.
No prior martial arts experience is needed. Every child receives individual attention and instruction appropriate to their current level. By the end of a camp week, even complete beginners demonstrate noticeable improvement in technique, coordination, and confidence.
Physical Activity That Actually Matters
The childhood obesity rate in the United States continues to rise, and screen time continues to replace physical activity. Summer break often makes this worse — kids with unstructured days gravitate toward tablets, gaming, and television. Our summer camp combats this directly with hours of daily physical activity that kids actually want to do.
Martial arts training engages the entire body. Your child develops cardiovascular endurance, functional strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination — all while learning practical skills. Unlike traditional sports camps where kids may spend significant time sitting on the bench or waiting for their turn, martial arts training keeps every child actively moving throughout the session.
Parents consistently tell us their kids come home from camp physically tired in a healthy way — sleeping well, eating well, and waking up excited to come back the next day. That is the sign of a camp that is getting it right.
Building Friendships and Social Skills
Martial arts training is inherently social. Every technique requires a partner. Every drill involves communication and cooperation. Kids who train together develop a bond that is different from typical playground friendships because they are challenging each other, supporting each other, and learning together in a structured environment.
For children who are shy, anxious, or struggle in large social settings, our summer camp provides a more structured and supportive social experience than many traditional camps. The clear rules and expectations of martial arts training create a safe framework for social interaction. Coach Ryan pays particular attention to helping quieter kids integrate and find their place within the group.
Many of the strongest friendships at Gracie Barra Celebration started during summer camp. Kids who meet during camp often continue training together year-round, building relationships that extend well beyond the academy walls.
Registration and Logistics
Gracie Barra Celebration's Summer Martial Arts Camp fills up quickly — especially for the younger age groups where class sizes are intentionally kept small to maintain quality instruction and individual attention. We strongly encourage early registration to secure your child's spot.
Camp runs weekly sessions throughout the summer, so you can enroll your child for one week, multiple weeks, or the entire summer depending on your family's schedule. This flexibility makes our camp accessible whether you need full-summer coverage or just want your child to experience a week of martial arts training.
