Free Trial Martial Arts Class in Celebration, FL
By Gracie Barra Celebration · February 2026
You have been thinking about trying martial arts. Maybe you have researched BJJ online, watched some YouTube videos, or had a friend tell you about their experience. But there is a gap between thinking about it and actually walking through the door. At Gracie Barra Celebration, we make that first step easy: your first class is completely free, with no commitment, no strings attached, and no pressure to sign up.
This guide covers everything you need to know before your free trial class — what to expect, what to bring, and what happens from the moment you arrive at our academy at 1420 Celebration Blvd, Suite 108, Celebration, FL 34747.
How to Schedule Your Free Trial
Scheduling is simple. You have three options:
- Call us: Dial (407) 739-4666 and let our front desk know you would like to try a class. They will help you pick the right time based on your age, schedule, and interests.
- Fill out the online form: Visit our website and submit a quick contact form. We will reach out to confirm your trial class time.
- Walk in: If you prefer to just show up, that works too. Arrive about 20 minutes before any scheduled class time and let our staff know it is your first visit. We will take care of the rest.
We offer trial classes for every program: Adults BJJ, Kids BJJ (ages 3+), Muay Thai, MMA (ages 14+), and Self-Defense. When you call or submit the form, we will help match you with the right program.
What to Wear to Your First Class
Keep it simple. For your trial class, wear comfortable athletic clothing:
- Shorts or athletic pants: Board shorts, gym shorts, or joggers all work. Avoid anything with zippers, buttons, or belt loops that could catch on the mat or scratch a training partner.
- T-shirt or rash guard: A regular t-shirt is perfectly fine. If you own a rash guard or compression shirt, that works too.
- No shoes on the mat: Training is done barefoot. Bring flip-flops or slides to wear off the mat and to the bathroom.
You do not need to buy a gi (the traditional uniform) for your first class. If you decide to join, we will help you get the right gear at that point. For the trial, regular workout clothes are all you need.
What to Bring
Pack light:
- A water bottle — you will need it
- A towel if you want one (we have some available)
- A change of clothes if you prefer to change after class
- An open mind and a willingness to learn
Remove all jewelry before class — rings, necklaces, earrings, and watches should be taken off for your safety and your training partner's safety.
What Happens When You Arrive
Plan to arrive 15 to 20 minutes before class starts. Here is what to expect:
Check-In
Our front desk staff will greet you, have you fill out a brief waiver, and answer any initial questions. If you are bringing a child for a kids class, the same process applies — the parent fills out the paperwork while the child gets ready.
Meet the Coach
Before class begins, you will meet the instructor for that session. Our coaching team includes Professor Rodrigo Frezza (our head instructor), Coach Ryan, and Coach Marcello. They will ask about your goals, any injuries or limitations, and what brought you in. This is not a sales conversation — it is so they can give you the best experience possible during class.
Tour the Facility
If time allows, you will get a quick walkthrough of the academy — the mat area, changing rooms, and where to put your belongings. Our facility is clean, well-organized, and maintained to the highest standards. We clean our mats to hospital-grade specifications after every session.
What the Class Looks Like
Every class at Gracie Barra Celebration follows a structured format. While the specific content varies by program, here is the general flow:
- Warm-up (8-10 minutes): Dynamic stretching, movement drills, and sport-specific exercises to get your body ready. The warm-up is moderate — challenging enough to prepare you for training but not designed to exhaust you before the real work begins.
- Technique instruction (20-25 minutes): The coach demonstrates the techniques of the day, breaks them down step by step, and then you practice them with a partner. As a first-timer, you will typically be paired with an experienced student who can guide you through the movements.
- Live training or drilling (10-15 minutes): Depending on the class and your comfort level, you may participate in controlled sparring or continue drilling techniques with your partner. There is zero pressure to spar on your first day — if you would rather watch and learn, that is completely fine.
- Cool-down (5 minutes): Stretching, class announcements, and the traditional Gracie Barra closing.
The total class runs about 50 to 60 minutes. Some students describe their first class as the hardest workout they have ever done. Others find it more manageable than expected. Either way, every single person finishes with a sense of accomplishment.
After Class: No Pressure
This is important: we will not hard-sell you after your trial class. Our front desk staff may ask how the class went and offer information about membership options if you are interested. But if you want to go home and think about it, that is completely fine. If you want to try another class before deciding, we can arrange that too.
We want you to join because the training speaks for itself — not because someone pressured you into signing up. Our 5.0 Google rating and over 200 active members exist because people genuinely love training here, not because of aggressive sales tactics.
Common Questions About the Free Trial
Do I need to be in shape?
No. People of all fitness levels start here every week. The training itself will get you in shape — that is literally the point. You do not need to "get ready" before starting.
What if I have never done any martial arts?
That describes the majority of our students on their first day. No experience is required or expected. Our instructors are skilled at teaching complete beginners.
Is it safe?
Yes. Our classes are supervised by certified Gracie Barra instructors who prioritize safety. Techniques are learned progressively, and sparring intensity is controlled. Injuries can happen in any physical activity, but our structured approach minimizes risk significantly.
Can my child try a class too?
Absolutely. We offer kids classes for ages 3 and up with the same free trial. Kids and parents can even try classes on the same day.
What programs can I try?
Your free trial is available for any of our programs: Adults BJJ, Kids BJJ, Muay Thai, MMA (ages 14+), or Self-Defense. We will help you choose the right one based on your goals.
Come See for Yourself
Reading about martial arts and experiencing it are two very different things. The only way to know if Gracie Barra Celebration is right for you is to come in and try it. Your first class costs nothing, requires nothing, and commits you to nothing. All it takes is showing up.
